Event Details
In this virtual class where you are encouraged to bake along, Bill the Baker will demonstrate how to make a galette. Once you have mastered making the dough, the options for the filling are nearly endless!
In order to bake with Bill you will have to make the Galette dough at least a few hours or up to two days before we meet on the 15th. More thorough instructions are attached to this event on the right side of this page under "Attachments", but here are the basic steps for preparation.
Steps:
- At least several hours in advance of making the dough, freeze 5 tbsp of butter cut into cubes and put in a ziploc bag with 1 tbsp flour
- At least several hours in advance of the class, make the dough with the "Galette Dough" instructions on the right side of this page
- 30 minutes before class starts, take the dough out of the refrigerator and leave it wrapped on your counter.
The "Blueberry Galette" document on the right shows the remaining ingredients and instructions that Bill will be demonstrating during the live class. The tools that you will need the night of the class are a rolling pin, a surface to roll the dough out on (preferably a silicone mat), a cookie sheet, some parchment paper, either a bowl scraper, bench scraper, or silicone spatula, a pastry brush, and the galette ingredients including the galette dough.
