Library cards are available at no additional cost to residents of and those owning property within the Winnetka-Northfield Public Library’s taxing district. You can apply online here. You will need to come in during our open hours and show valid photo ID and one of the documents listed here to receive your new library card.

Go to Account Login on the home page. Enter library barcode (no spaces) and password. If you do not know your password, click on the "Forgot Your Password" option. If you do not use email, please contact the library for assistance.

We no longer have expiration dates for library cards as long as you continue to live in the district! 

We offer storytimes most Mondays-Fridays at both locations. Check out our storytime schedule here. You can view all of our programs for kids here.

You cannot reserve a study room, our study rooms are on a first come first served basis. Please come into the library and ask anyone working at the front desk if a study room is available.

We do not accept any donations at this time. Please contact the Wilmette or Glencoe Public Libraries, or Christ Church Winnetka.

You can return your books in the book drops (inside and outside) each location. When the library is closed, please return your books to the outdoor book drop. 

Yes! Please come into the library and speak with a librarian at the reference desk for any printing/copy needs.

Winnetka Library – Yes. Faxing is free of charge.  

Northfield Library – No. Fax service is not available.

 

No, we have guest passes for any patrons who don’t have a library card with them.

You will receive a notification from the library (Either email, text or phone call) letting you know that your hold is ready to be picked up. If you check your account using our app or website, then the status will have changed to Ready for Pickup.

Yes, we partner with other area libraries and have a reciprocal borrowing arrangement. Please ask us if you have questions about a specific book or library.

You will have four days to pick up your hold from the library. If you don’t pick it up before we send the material back, you can ask us to put the item back on hold.

Yes. Winnetka Library’s bike rack is located at the main entrance that faces Green Bay Rd. The Northfield Library’s bike rack is located on the SE corner of the building or to the right of the entrance.

Yes! Please download our app on your phone and add your library card. You can search the App Store or Google Play for “Winnetka-Northfield Public Lib”. Please call or stop by the library if you need any assistance.

If a schoolbook is returned to the library, we will send the book back to the school, but it may take a few days for the school to receive the item.
