Eligibility: Age 16 and up.

Submission Rules: One poem per entrant, maximum of sixteen lines. The poem must be your own original work, unpublished in print/online, and shouldn't have won a prior contest. Be creative! For example, you can write about your pet or your favorite kind of animal.

Entries may be submitted to poetry@wnpld.org from October 10 through October 20 by 4:00 p.m. In the body of your email, include:

  • Your name
  • Title of the poem (If the poem has no title, such as a haiku, then write “No Title” and it can be identified by its first line.)
  • Your contact information (email address or phone number)

Please attach your poem as a Word document or similar, containing only the poem’s title or “No Title,” and the poem– NO identifying personal information.

Alternatively, poems may be mailed to the Winnetka Library, c/o Nick Mall, 768 Oak St., Winnetka, 60093. Typed please, with two pages–one page with your name, title of the poem or “No Title,” and phone number. On the second page, just the title of the poem or “No Title” and your poem.

Winning entries: Winners will be notified by October 31. Prizes will be awarded for First, Second, and Third Places. Winnetka Author and Poet Charlotte Digregorio will judge the contest.
