HEROES ON DECK - World War II on Lake Michigan

Learn the true story of a little-known US Navy program that recruited and trained 15,000 aircraft carrier pilots on Lake Michigan, just off Chicago's shores, in response to the attack on Pearl Harbor.  As a result of the Midwest's challenging wind and weather, as well the inexperience of some of the pilots, more than 100 WWII fighter planes went to the bottom of Lake Michigan.
