YOUTH SERVICES LIBRARIAN

OVERVIEW

Under general direction from the Youth Services Manager, is responsible for providing reference, reader’s advisory, programming, and outreach primarily for patrons ages 0-18, as well as managing and promoting the library’s physical and digital collections.  

Essential Duties

  • Builds relationships with youth patrons that assists with providing reference and readers’ advisory services
  • Develops, presents, facilitates, and evaluates effectiveness of youth programs
  • Builds relationships with community members and organizations and conducts outreach to promote the library’s collections, programs, and services
  • Uses professional literature and resources to curate and maintain a responsive and balanced library collection based on community input and professional tenets
  • Creates and maintains displays that promote and highlight library collections
  • Provides input on and supports the library’s strategic plan and departmental goals
  • Interprets and explains department and library policies and procedures to public
  • Acts as Person-In-Charge (PIC)
  • Engages in professional development activities to stay current with trends and best practices
  • Other duties as assigned
